Course & Curriculum

From the school’s inception, the curriculum developed has been in line with requirements for the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) examinations, a fact that has enabled Wynton to become an examination centre for ABRSM and LCM exams annually.

Genres of music we instruct in:

In addition to classical music, Wynton prides itself on offering musical instruction in genres such as pop, rock, reggae, rhythm and blues and jazz so as to enable its students to adapt to various musical styles. Examinations for popular genres are offered by the London College of Music.

Consultation & Instruction services:

Wynton offers consultation and instruction services to individuals who wish to have a career in the music industry as local artists. For this reason the school offers music production courses to add value to the the general music theory knowledge and instrument(s) playing skill.

We also offers consultation and instruction services to institutions such as schools and church choirs. The  primary objective is to improve the musicianship of large groups and as an institution encourage and assist these groups produce CDs of their improved performance.

All courses are offered either on full-time or part-time.

Full – Time program

Full time courses is a three term, detailed  course which is geared towards preparing a student for a career in music. Its scope is wider than that of a part-time student. We aspire to enrich each student in both music and business skills, as well as in their preparedness toward achieving a successful music career. We provide you with a stage to perform and use our network to start a career as a performing artist. The course can be offered to individuals or in groups of a maximum of four students.

Students have the option of having lessons for 1 ½ hours every week or 3 hours every week. The student is instructed in two or more different instruments of their choice (voice, piano, guitar or drums) for ½ hour or 1 hour each on alternate days and ½ hour or 1 hour of theory on another day.

You will be required to take 8 terms to reach your total course work to achieve an Advanced
Wynton performance certificate, Associate Board of the Royal School of Music (ABRSM)/ London College of Music (LCM) grade 6-8). Within completion of the 8 terms you will also have written your first single/album.
